Project Background
The St’at’imc Walk Your Mocc’s Fitness challenge was a year long fitness challenge held by the Northern St’at’imc Health Hub. The challenge was to encourage and engage all St’at’imc members from all 11 communities to increase their physical activity by utilizing Fitbit devices. Members were to purchase, register and use their Fitbit devices to compete in the year-long contest, which gave out monthly, quarterly, and year-end prizes for most steps, longest distance, most active minutes, and community averages.
Role
Pat’s role was to manage and carry out the project from start to finish. From initial strategy, planning, preparation, Pat took direction from the St’at’imc Health Advisory Committee and carried out the year-long fitness challenge engaging members of all 11 St’at’imc Communities. Not only hosting the challenge, Pat also held other events and contests including photo contest, video contests, weekly meet-ups/runs, and a winter-wellness skating event. With managing 11 delegates from each community, some of the duties included strategy, planning, project management, video production, website development, social media marketing, community engagement, public speaking, and copywriting.
Conclusion
By the year end there had been over 700 registrations, and close to 520 participants aged 12-60 actively using and signed up in the Fitbit activity groups. The whole nation came together for this fun and engaging fitness campaign. This also received great reporting in the local newspapers.
